Well, it’s been a while since I’ve been here, but once again the Advertising and Marketing program here at St. Lawrence College, Kingston campus has tasked me with writing a blog about my progress during second year, second semester. While I haven’t flexed my blogging muscle in a while, I am excited to get back into it.
Now, as I just mentioned, it’s been a while since I wrote my last blog post. Fortunately, last year I wrote about ‘blogging best practices’ and it was easy to remind myself what a successful blog looks like. (If you’re in the same boat as me, definitely check it out for a few reminders).
So far, this year has just flown by! I can’t believe there are only 7 weeks left! For this academic year, I set some pretty ambitious goals for myself. I not only wanted to maintain my Dean’s List status but work to engage myself more in all aspects of student life as well as taking advantage of every opportunity offered to me. While this has been great, I have been very busy but surviving thanks to some time management and self-discipline strategies.
In my Emerging Trends in Marketing class, we are tasked with completing some certifications that will make us more employable and help us land a job. After speaking with Ashley Montroy, CMO at Frontrunner Professional, she mentioned the importance of certifications during her hiring processes. After speaking with her to determine what certifications would best benefit me, I decided to focus on: Google Analytics, HubSpot’s Inbound Marketing and Content Marketing.
Currently, I am ahead of schedule thanks to the organizational and time management skills I have developed. With the help of Trello, I have completed both Google Analytics and HubSpot Content Marketing. My goal was to have all three completed by March 22. I’m currently about a third of the way completed the Inbound Marketing certification and am anticipating being completed before my due date.
My plan for this semester was to stay focused on staying ahead of deadlines by completing assignments a few weeks before they are due. So far, this has allowed me to find balance in my academics, work, extra curriculars, and personal life. Sticking to this routine, I know I’ll finish my certifications (and maybe a few more) much before the deadline.
